![]() ![]() It would still give your son months of enjoyment until MSFS 2024 lands. ![]() So if you want to fly “for this Xmas”, then your decision would be if you’d (still) want to buy MSFS 2020 today. My bet would be sometimes around late August 2024 (= the same month MSFS 2020 appeared), but possibly even later. Microsoft has announced that “more information will become available sometimes in spring 2024”, so don’t expect MSFS 2024 to become available anytime before that point in time. Oh and note that the 2024 version won’t appear until second half in 2024. My son wants the new MSFS 2024 and we don’t have an XBox. So the “boxed version” was really just meant for “collectors” who possibly not even open the box, but rather put in on a shelf “for collecting purposes” And that essentially boils down to have to download almost 100% of the entire game again. That being said, there is (or was?) an initial “boxed version” coming on several DVDs, and yes, that boxed version requires you to have a DVD in your drive whenever you want to play the game (“copy protection”).īut this boxed version appeared on day one, or in other words: if you would install this version today the first action would essentially be to completely download all available updates that appeared ever since. (*) No numbers given, but that is rather my educated guess here Or in other words: naturally you don’t even get a DVD, so yes, you can totally play the game in this case without a DVD drive. ![]() ![]() Most people (*) actually download the game from either Steam or the Microsoft Store (which is the only choice really if you are on Xbox). TL DR: Yes, you can download and play the simulator without any DVD drive. Or can you simply download the game 100% without a DVD? ![]()
